A huge congratulations to two Sidcotians textiles students Jiazhen Xie & Maddy Hann for their recent successes; Jiazhen featured in this December’s Vogue and Maddy at the Graduate Fashion Week, part of this year’s London fashion week.
Jiazhen Xie (Class of 2017) .features in Vogue as one of the designers for Fashioncrossoverlondon: @janjanxjz. The publication featured pieces from her degree in BA Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, Jiazhen has always been concentrated on scale, structure, constructed textiles and the fuse of delicate off-loom craftsmanship with pre-existing materials. More details on her pieces can be found here. Jiazhen hopes to return to St Martins or The Royal College of Art to do an MA in Fashion design next year.
Also many congratulations to Sidcotian Maddy Hann (S.Class of 2018) who studied her BA Hons in Fashion Knitwear at Nottingham Trent. Her final degree piece, shown here, was selected to go down the catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week, which is part of London Fashion Week. Maddy is currently working as a tailor for Levi’s and is in the midst of setting up her own fashion business. We and Mrs Ralph are incredibly proud of them both and wish them both well in their future careers.
