A huge well done to our two Travel Award winners for 2022. Last week, current Upper Sixth students, Ruby Owen and Lolly Whitcombe both gave presentations to our panel, including Sidcotian Ambassador Angela Cary-Brown (pictured left), Sidcot Education Trust Trustee and former Travel Award winner Philip Davies (pictured right), and me.
Both girls spoke eloquently on their travel plans for next year and the panel felt their travel endeavours would certainly enhance their CV's and provide valuable life experiences for their futures.
Ruby is planning on travelling to Kenya to work in an orphanage and a school as a Music and English teacher for three months, while Lolly is planning on travelling to New Zealand to work in a boarding school as a Sports teacher and Wellbeing mentor. We wish both of them every success with their upcoming adventures and we look forward to welcoming them back to speak with the next generation of Sidcotians about the Travel Award and their experiences overseas.
The Education Trust has generously made two more Awards available this year and we would like to invite more applications from current Upper Sixth (2022 Leavers) and any 2021 Leavers who would like to apply. The Award offers students up to £850 towards a trip of their choice that is career enhancing or gives back to society or the environment in some way. The application form is attached below and the deadline for the remaining Awards is Friday 19th August, with presentations taking place in September via Zoom. If you would like to apply, please complete the attached form and return it to Rachele Snowden in the Alumni office. The shortlist of candidates will be announced in early September.
