Wendy also acts as Diocesan Lead for Anna Chaplaincy.

Anna Chaplaincy seeks to accompany older people in their later years. It is a person-centred and non-judgemental ministry for people of strong, little or no faith at all.

Speaking of her appointment, Wendy said, “There is a terrific need for support of the ageing generation. The Office for National Statistics shows us that the number of over 85s is set to double in 20 years, and to treble in 30 years. With my background in the church, I had started to become aware of the needs of older people in the congregation and elected to undertake the training to be an Anna Chaplain. It was very clear to me that being an Anna Chaplain complements my day job as a therapist. As one gets older, it can be a great relief to unburden oneself.  An Anna Chaplain offers space for another to unburden themselves and to get their house in order. It will be a privilege to help older people reflect on their spiritual journey and to act as an advocate for the needs of older people in church and beyond. It’s also a great joy to be working with my son Mike, who heads up Chaplaincy for the Diocese!”

As our volunteer Sidcotian Alumni Relationships Officer, we know that Wendy will be the perfect representative as Anna Chaplain, and we wish her all the very best in her new role. Well done Wendy!
