Seth Roberts (S: 1996 - 1998)

It is with the greatest sadness that we share the devastating news that Seth Roberts, aged 43, passed away while in Thailand on Friday 30th December. Details of a his funeral can be found below. The family have also set up a GoFundMe memorial fund for his young family. If you wish to contribute to the fund you can do so here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/memorial-fund-for-seths-children

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time. He was a loving husband, father to two young children, brother to Daniel, Kenneth and Rozzy and son of Dave Roberts (S: 1961 - 1968) and his wife Carole. He will be missed by many.

Below is an obituary for Seth, written by his twin brother Daniel, that was shared at his funeral on February 1st:

Seth was born on 11th October 1979, five minutes before his twin Daniel. Travelling by ocean liner, his family moved to Canada in 1982. They lived in Ottowa for four years.

On returning to live in Bristol, Seth attended Frenchay Church of England Primary School, The Ridings High School  and then SIdcot school for the Sixth Form. He excelled academically and musically and as he did throughout his whole life, he made many friends who are friends to this day.

Seth studied Phyisics at Edinburgh University, and travelled the world for a year afterwards. On returning he completed a PhD in Phyisical Chemistry at the University of Bristol, then worked as a post-doc in Brisbane, Australia and Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Seth loved music - during A Levels, he played bass guitar in a covers band called Duvet, and always insisted that his bass should be turned up louder. He continued to play in bands after leaving school. In Edinburgh he was in Charlie Don't Surf and in Bristol he was in Elijah's Dream and Cobra Ky. His base was still always loud.

He also loved to play basketball. He played for Speedwell Pirates, which is a local team in Bristol and he was one of the top scorers.

But Seth's greatest love was his wife. Nui and his children Eidin and June. Seth met Nui when he was living in Chaing Mai. They married in 2013 and returned to live in Oxford where Seth worked as a pattent attourney. Eidin and June's births bought Seth and immense amount of joy, and they made him very happy every day.

Seth died suddenly after a short illness in Thailand on 30th December. He is survived by Nui, Eidin and June, by his parents Carole and Dave and by his siblings, Daniel, Kenneth and Rozzy. They already miss him so much.
