This week in School, we have hosted a series of events celebrating the New Year, including an assembly where students from China, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Mongolia, Japan and Malaysia explained how they celebrate the Lunar New Year in their culture. At Sidcot, we are so proud of our international community, and it was lovely to learn about the different traditions. Junior 5 also performed a Chinese New Year Song they had been learning in their Chinese class.

Next week, we will be taking our boarders to a Chinese Restaurant in Bristol to celebrate the festivities and of course, stop by the Asian supermarket to stock up on instant noodles and other much-loved snacks. Food is always the best way to understand a culture, and everyone will have a go at using chopsticks! This year we are delighted that Junior 5 have been invited to perform at the Bristol Museum Lunar New year celebration, alongside Senior School students who will be making bunny ears with children visiting the museum.

Happy Lunar New Year to all the Sidcotian Community from the Alumni team
