“Easter is always one of my favourite times of year, and this year was certainly no exception. After having two years of no Sidcot Easter weekend, it was especially lovely to come back and join together again with old friends and some new faces. All of our firm favourite activities were fixtures of the programme; from the swimming gala to rounders, hockey and volleyball. Plus the walk and evening events are always a highlight. Skittles started the weekend off, followed by the Friday evening lecture, pub quiz and the Ceilidh. It was certainly a packed programme of events.
“Easter weekend is always such a wonderful family weekend for that embraces the generations with a little something for everyone to enjoy. Whether it’s joining in with the knitting corner and puzzles in the old library, or exploring the gardens on an Easter egg hunt with the children. It’s such a wonderful mix of Sidcotians and their extended families.
“I personally have some really great friends which I have made over my years of coming to the Sidcot at Easter that I rarely get to see at another time of year, making this year extra special, having not seen them for so much longer than normal.
“Much anticipated each year is the President’s tea, with great food and lovely company. This along with the mac n cheese and fruit crumble which everyone is always happy to see back on the menu and something we looked forward to the most as a group when we were younger! A small highlight still has to be having a drink, and a bar set up in the Refectory of my old school, a novelty which still hasn’t quite worn off.
“Sunday evening meeting before Entertainments in the Meeting House is the perfect way to wrap up the weekend, which is now unofficially always followed by a mass group order of Chinese and some fun games. The best way to round up another lovely Easter weekend at Sidcot. I am already looking forward to next year.”
