In mid-October Sarah and I headed to York to catch up with Sidcotians and our Sidcotian family based in Yorkshire; it was great to see everyone.
This year’s northern reunion at New Earswick Meeting House was a great success, with 25 friends and families attending for a catch up on school news. The morning kicked off with a coffee and a chat; many thanks to our current President, Sarah Fulcher, for attending. The alumni team updated everyone on current school student numbers, the success of the Sixth Form redevelopment and the Science Lab refurbishments. We also introduced the incoming head and took a Q&A session from the floor.
After the presentation there was time to share Bertha's Diary with the attendees. If you would like to see this for yourself it is a beautiful hand drawn account from an OS who was in school in 1910-1912. Her nephew Patrick Daw was also at Sidcot years later and shared the diary with us last year. More details can be found on this link.
A pizza lunch was prepared by Wendy, Bryony and willing volunteers, followed by a walk around New Earswick led by Chris Robson, returning to the meeting house for tea and homemade cakes. It was lovely to see so many friends in attendance and we look forward to seeing some of you at the Easter reunion.
