Our ethos

What do we do really well?

"Teachers and parents help us to develop our 'emotional literacy'. I think most children learn to listen and come to understand, and not be frightened by, difference and disagreement."

"Teachers tell us that they want us to feel like we can speak up and communicate their feelings without fear. Most children feel safe here – not only in the classroom but in everyday life. We are taught how to stay safe online and why (we have a debate to explore why it is important to do so)."

"When disagreements arise, as they do, staff help us use the skills of conflict resolution. We are encouraged to be honest about our feelings or how it hurts. We use our imagination and games to develop empathy and confidence."

"Our classrooms have a family feel and an atmosphere of mutual respect. Most of us feel we are being treated with fairness, that our views are heard and our decisions respected."
