"Kathleen will live on in our memories for many years due to the amazing work she and Chris (S:1941 - 1947) did as a couple in putting together the Register of Old Scholars from 1808 - 1998. Timothy John b. 1962, Richard Nelson b. 1964; 1950 Diploma, Queens Secretarial College; 1950 - 1954 Secretary to Professor of Electrical Engineering, Imperial College; 1954 - 1958 Secretary to Principal of School of Gas Turbine Technology, Power Jets Farmborough; 1966 co-founder of Camberley's first Pre-School Playgroup; 1978 - 1987 Resources Assistant, then Secretary to Headmaster, Watchetts Middle School, Camberley; 1992 -1998 School Governor; 1988/89 joint President S.O.S.A. with Chris; 1990 - 2001 producing the 1808 - 1998 S.O.S.A. Kathleen and Chris attended many Easter Reunions over the years, with Kathleen being very involved  with costumes for the Monday night entertainment in particular. Many thanks to her husband Chris for sharing this obituary with us: 

Kathleen Hall 1931 - 2024

Many and many-a-time was it assumed, incorrectly, that Kathleen was an alumna of Sidcot. Her strong connection with Sidcot was through the Easter Reunions of Sidcot’s Old Scholars Association. Her  support of the Association was characteristic of the full and committed support she always gave to the enthusiasms of her friends and associates.  All who met her found themselves in the presence of a warm and ‘giving’ person.

Throughout her life Kathleen enjoyed singing in local choirs and choral groups, and participated warmly in the life and growth of our families, near and far.

After training at Queen’s Secretarial College Kathleen worked as departmental secretary to the Professor of Electrical Engineering at Imperial College.  Subsequently she became secretary to the Principal of the School of Gas Turbine Technology in Farnborough.

After the birth of our sons Timothy John and Richard Nelson, and while they were still toddlers, Kathleen participated in a local Pre-school Play Group, and in a local branch of Housewives Register.  Later, as they entered their teens, she became secretary to the Headmaster of our Middle School.

As we entered into “retirement’ she and I became enthusiastic circle-dancers, leading two local circle-dance groups.  It was at this time that Kathleen came up with the suggestion that we should undertake the updating of Sidcot’s Register of Old Scholars. This involved taking on a massive all-on-paper exercise, since the wonders of the computer age had yet to arrive.

A decade later the current Register of Sidcot’s Old Scholars was published.  In recognition of this achievement the Old Scholars Association conferred the gift of Honorary Membership to us both. In 1988/89 we had served the Association as their joint Presidents.

In all her activities Kathleen made many warm friends, spreading to them and their families her own delight in people and in their relationships.
